We were leaving a town that day; that’s why we look fairly clean.

I have been thinking this week about our thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, 25 years ago. Just had to post this photo of my husband, Nat Eddy, and me standing on the trail where it crossed a dam (can’t recall which one, but it was in Virginia). We had been married for two years. About three months later, we reached the top of Katahdin in Maine with our hiking companions Phil and Cay.
